This project delivered a modernised Control Room to support Powerlink’s goals for a safer, more reliable, sustainable high-voltage network. It also prepares for future network growth and new energy management systems.
The upgrade took place within the constraints of an existing occupied commercial property, ensuring that Control Room operations remained uninterrupted. To facilitate this, a temporary control room was designed, constructed, and commissioned, allowing for a smooth transition of operations prior to the commencement of the primary control room upgrade. Once the upgrade was complete, operations transitioned back to the main control room.
The project included various design elements, including mechanical, hydraulic, security, electrical, communications, structural services, and more. Detailed planning for the execution and staging of the work was essential to maintain continuous operations without disruption.
This process involved thorough consultation with internal subject matter experts, the construction team, and external agencies.
